We became involved in Marie Curie, after supporting friends of ours who had organised a fundraising event in aid of a belated family member.
We were asked to organise an event, which we did. We contacted come people we knew, who helped us to get in touch with some Celidh bands, and my alter ego came out of retirement to host the event, with a pledge of £100 for the charity if I did. The event was a success, though not all tickets were sold, and the money raised was gift aided to boost the funds.
At the regional AGM we became aware that there are not alot of Marie Curie volunteers in the Dumfries area, so we designed and printed com postcards to hopefully boost the volunteer population for them.
We have also pledged to get the 'Marie Curie Filed of Hope' at Cuckoo Bridge, Dumfries refreshed and tidied, as 2008 is the charities 60th anniversary.
March 2008, is the annual Daffodil Appeal, and we were at Morrisons, Dumfries on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd March, doing bag packing and selling Daffodil badges. We had a great 2 days, and the people of Dumfries were very generous donating a total of £2038:77.
We would like to Thank everybody for their support and generosity, shoppers and volunteers that joined us alike.
Steven.
